10. Troubleshooting and support

Troubleshooting

From time to time, it may be necessary to troubleshoot system faults and issues. The following list details possible faults and solutions:

 

Hose reel doesn't turn on

  • Ensure the red marker on the connectors are hidden.
  • Ensure both hose reel power supply LEDs are illuminated green.
  • Ensure the hose reel router status light is red.
  • Ensure the System Power button LED is illuminated red.

 

No force feedback

  • Ensure the red marker on the left connectors is hidden.
  • Ensure both hose reel power supply LEDs are illuminated green.

 

VR headset doesn't turn on

  • Ensure the battery is attached correctly to the back of the headset.
  • Ensure the battery is fully charged. Tap the power button once to check.
  • Press and hold the VR headset power button for 5 seconds to turn on.

 

Battery Power Low appears inside the VR headset

Headset battery power less than 15 per cent

  • It is recommended to charge the VR headset.
  • Use the controller to select OK.
  • You will still have use for a short period of time.

Headset power is less than 5 per cent

  • It is recommended to charge the VR headset immediately.

 

Floor height appears too high or, facing in the wrong direction

  • Short press the power button to make the headset sleep.
  • Navigate to new location or correct orientation. (Ensure it is a clear floor e.g. away from tables and chairs).
  • Look down at the clear floor.
  • Short press the power button to wake the headset, loading into the FLAIM lobby.

 

Select Streaming PC window is visible, unable to load FLAIM Lobby

  • Ensure the hose reel is on.
  • Ensure the hose reel router status light is red.
  • Restart VR headset.

 

Branch / nozzle or controller not tracking / freezing

  • Ensure the branch / nozzle tracker is attached to the front of the branch / nozzle.
  • Ensure the branch / nozzle tracker and controller are turned on, showing a green light.
  • If showing a blue flashing light, hold the power button on either device for approximately 5 seconds until it turns off and turn it on again.
  • If the light is flashing red, this indicates the devices battery is low. Refer to the Know the equipment article for battery charging instructions.
  • Ensure the headset has a clear line of sight to the devices at all times.

 

Branch / nozzle or controller not charging

  • Ensure the input end of the USB C Y splitter cable is plugged into the VR headset.
  • Ensure the output ends of the USB C Y splitter cables are plugged into the devices.
  • Ensure the VR headset is turned on and charging from the hose reel.

 

FLAIM Trainer app on iPad doesn't load or shows a white screen

  • Restart the app by double clicking the home button and swiping up.
  • Re-run the app from the home screen.
  • Ensure that the hose reel is turned on.

 

Nozzle doesn't function

  • Ensure the branch / nozzle tracker is attached to the front of the branch / nozzle.
  • Ensure the nozzle functions status indicator on the TV / display is green.
  • If the status indicator is blue:
    • Check AAA batteries in nozzle.
    • Re-pair the branch. Refer to FLAIM Trainer Settings > Advanced setup – Adding new / replacement hardware.

 

Nozzle doesn't show correct water pattern or pattern is delayed

  • Ensure no large RF generators or WIFI access points are too close to the system.
  • Restart the hose reel.
  • Disable heat suit and try with only the nozzle.
  • Perform a branch / nozzle calibration. Refer to FLAIM Trainer Settings > Advanced setup – Adding new / replacement hardware.

 

Unable to feel the heat from the fire using the heat suit

  • Ensure you are near the fire to feel radiant heat.
  • Ensure the heat suit status indicator on the TV / display is green.
  • If the status indicator is blue, ensure heat on is toggled on the iPad.
  • If the status indicator is red, ensure the:
    • Heat suit magnetic power clip is connected to the SCBA magnetic power port.
    • Battery is connected firmly and is fully charged (by checking on charger or pushing the battery status button on the Milwaukee battery).
  • Use a second battery to confirm.
  • Ensure that the operating temperature does not exceed 30 degrees Celsius / 85 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Re-pair the heat suit. Refer to FLAIM Trainer Settings > Advanced setup – Adding new / replacement hardware.

 

Unable to hear breathing using the SCBA mask

  • Ensure the lung demand valve hose is securely connected in the SCBA airline.
  • Ensure the SCBA battery status indicator on the TV / display is green.
  • Ensure the SCBA mask status indicator changes to yellow breathing in and orange breathing out.
  • If the status indicator is blue:
    • Ensure that the battery is connected firmly and is fully charged (by checking on charger or pushing the battery status button on the Milwaukee battery).
  • Use a second battery to confirm.
  • Ensure that the operating temperature does not exceed 30 degrees Celsius / 85 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Re-pair the SCBA. Refer to FLAIM Trainer Settings > Advanced setup – Adding new / replacement hardware.

 

Armband heartrate monitor remains flashing red / blue or biometrics displaying 0 on the iPad

  • Press and hold the power button for 3 seconds to turn off.
  • Press and hold the power button for 2 seconds to turn on.
  • Re-pair the heartrate monitor. Refer to FLAIM Trainer Settings > Advanced setup – Adding new / replacement hardware.
  • If the light is flashing red, this indicates the devices battery is low. Refer to the Know your equipment article for battery charging instructions.

 

Instructor view doesn't show on TV

  • Ensure correct source is selected on the TV / projector.
  • Ensure HDMI F to F adapter has a secure connection.
  • Ensure HDMI cable is connected to the side of the hose reel.
  • Ensure that the hose reel is turned on.
