Updating FLAIM Trainer

Updating FLAIM Trainer takes two stages, the first update that needs to be completed are the programs that operate in the background; the second update will be the FLAIM software that operates above those stage one programs. 

 

You must first determine which hardware version you are using:

A T3 system is the latest hardware version available, the computer is built within the hose reel.

A T2 system is an earlier hardware version, the computer is build within the SBCA backpack.

 

T3

 

Important: The PC in the Hose Reel must be connected to WiFi to run a software update. Please see these instructions for connecting Windows 10 to a WiFi network. Press & hold the Tab and Windows logo keys to get to the Windows desktop screen.

 

Stage One

  1. Start the system as normal, and, once loaded, press & hold the Tab and Windows logo keys to get to the Windows desktop screen.
  2. You will need connect the Hose Reel PC to the internet.
  3. Open Internet Explorer and login to the FLAIM Portal.
  4. Select the FLAIM Trainer from the list of products and click Download on the latest software release.

  5. Open the folder that just downloaded (check your Downloads if you have trouble finding it) and double click the FLAIM Installer application.

  6. If there are any other additional packages required, please follow the instructions provided onscreen. For example, SteamVR requires updates sporadically. Similar to what is shown in the list above, click the SteamVR update file and click Next and follow the steps in the installer popup.

  7. Click the box next to I agree to the license terms and conditions then click Install.4.PNG5.PNG


Stage Two

  1. Following the installation of the background programs, the system will begin installation of the FLAIM Trainer software.

  2. Click the box next to I agree to the license terms and conditions then click Install. Please wait while the install progresses.

  3. Please close any open programs as instructed. Select the instruction and press OK.13.PNG
  4. Click Finish to complete the installation.

  5. Follow the prompts and press Yes to accept the changes.

  6. Restart the Hose Reel when the update is finished.
  7. Once the System has restarted; start the FLAIM application on the iPad, select New Session and tap Settings in the top left corner.

  8. Tap the drop down menu of Select simulation version and choose from the available options. We recommend choosing the latest version.

  9. To confirm the changes, tap the yellow Trainer Simulation button in the bottom left of the screen and will return to the session details screen.

T2

 

Important: A T2 Trainer system has the computer in the SBCA backpack, not in the hose reel. 

 

Stage One

  1. To download the FLAIM Trainer updates you will need a separate PC connected to the internet and login to our website: https://flaimsystems.com/login

  2. Select the FLAIM Trainer from the list of products and click Download on the latest software release.

  3. Once the file has downloaded transfer the files onto a USB drive. We recommend using at least a 16GB USB drive that has been formatted into either NTFS or ExFat.

  4. Once the files have been transferred to the USB drive, insert the drive into any of the USB slots available on the SBCA backpack.

     

    Important: Please ensure you have a fully charged battery prior to installation.

  5. To update your system, please open the installer files folder and double click the FLAIM Installer application.
